The history of the bathtub in ancient times

 

Bathtubs date back to the Indus Valley some 6,000 years ago. This is the age of the earliest forms of plumbing, as evidenced by copper water pipes found in palace ruins. 3,000 years later, a pedestal bathtub made of clay was found on the island of Crete, strikingly similar to a 19th-century claw-foot bathtub.
